This new extended one is to replace to my small size original battery for my T43 laptop that I have been used for years. The old one was only lasting about 1.5 hours; With one, I got about 4.25 hours. I carried it for a long plane trip. It works great and price was quite low.

this migth fix your problem;

Go to your power settings by right clicking on the desktop and select Properties> click the Screen Saver tab> click Power.
Under Power schemes select select all of the choices to never.
Plug the power supply into the laptop and wait till it reaches 100% and stop charging..
Disconnect the power supply and let the laptop discharge completly untill it heibernates.
Reconect the power supply and let the laptop charge complely again, then go back into the IBM ThinkPad T43 laptop battery power settings and resume the previous settings.
