Environmental lithium-ion battery

Lithium-ion battery has the following advantages:

1), high voltage, single battery voltage up to 3.6-3.9V, 3 times than a Ni-Cd or Ni-H battery

2), large specific energy, the present specific energy can achieve 100-125Wh/kg and 240-300Wh / L (2 times higher than Ni-Cd, 1.5 times higher than Ni-MH), the future, as technological development, specific energy could up to 150Wh/kg and 400 Wh / L

3), long cycle life, in general can reach more than 500 times, or even more than 1000 times. For a small electrical current discharge appliances, the battery will double the lifespan of electrical appliances competitiveness.

4), safety performance is good, pollution-free, no memory effect. As the predecessor of Li-ion batteries, due to the formation of lithium dendrite easy to short-circuit, reducing its application areas; Li-ion does not contain cadmium, lead, mercury and other elements of the environment pollution; Some processes (such as sintered) Ni-Cd batteries with a major drawback “memory effect”, seriously hindered the use of batteries, but Li-ion does not exist this problem.

5), self-discharge is small, full of electricity at room temperature Li-ion storage a month after the self-discharge rate of about 10%, much lower than Ni-Cd of 25-30%, Ni, MH 30-35%.

6), can quickly charge and discharge, when 1C charge, the capacity can reach more than 80% of the nominal capacity.

7), high operating temperature range, the operating temperature is -25 ~ 45°C, with the electrolyte and the positive improvements, hoping to broaden the -40 ~ 70°C.

Lithium-ion batteries also exist some disadvantages, such as:

1), battery costs are higher. Mainly reflected in the price of LiCoO2 cathode materials for high-(Co resources too small), electrolyte purification system difficult.

2), cannot high-current discharge. As the organic electrolyte system, and other reasons, the battery internal resistance is bigger compared to other type of batteries.

3), need to protect line control.

A, overcharge protection: Battery over charge would undermine the positive structure, which affects the performance and life; the same time, the overcharge lead to the electrolyte decomposition, excessive internal pressure lead to leakage and other problems, therefore must be charge under constant pressure 4.1V-4.2V;

B, over-discharge protection: over-discharge will lead to difficulties of recovery of active substances, they also need protection circuit control.
